IMAGES OF THE 2004 SERPENT MOUND IMPACT STRUCTURE FIELD TRIP On October 30, 2004, the IFSG sponsored a field trip to the Serpent Mound impact structure, which is a 256 Ma, 8 km-diameter, complex crater formed in Paleozoic strata in Adams, Highland and Pike counties in southern Ohio. The crater's name-sake, a famous serpent-shaped Indian mound, was also visited. The trip is described in detail in the Winter 2005 issue of "Impacts in the Field". |
